In this session, our party made it to safety.
The session started with the Looting Luters at the edge of the castle taking off with Aegar mounting Zoyana and Pliny as a giant owl.
They bolted to the southeast, basically retracing their steps back towards the Roadhouse.
As they flew, they realized that the swamp was recognizing and following them.
- When they looked down, they could see murders of ravens looking up at them, but staying away.
- The swamp wasn’t trying to get them, but it was definitely looking when they flew by.
The party escaped from the black dragon through some incredible luck (a 32 on a make-or-break save, advantage on a key roll that started with a 1) and down one magical ring…
They lasted an hour before Pliny’s Polymorph was going to run out.
Zoyana spotted a clearing on a little rise, dry ground but tree covered.
- In the clearing, they felt eyes on them.
- When they looked up in the trees, there were the ravens.
- And as they looked around, there were centipedes sticking out of every crevice looking out at them.
- The eyes of frogs looking up from the swamp floor.
- Wherever they looked, it felt like the entire forest was looking at them.”_
- When they looked up in the trees, there were the ravens.
- In the clearing, they felt eyes on them.
They landed and sent Fang off with the Ring of Myrkul to hide it.
The dragon drew closer, and the party booked it through the swamp as fast as they could.
Fang caught up to them, and they spotted the dragon through the trees.
- It circled around, and dove down into the into the swamp in the distance.
The party racked their brains, and Aegar suggested that Pliny write a note to Rokstasha and see if that would work.”_
- And the message back from Rokstasha unlocked in Pliny a recognition that, with his lute, he could cast Teleportation Circle through it.
Pliny began to play.
- A circle of flowers grew up around them, and the butterflies coming off of the loot started swirling around.
- Thinking that they might be able to go to the Temple of Selune in Waterdeep or the House of Gond in Baldur’s Gate, the further they could go the better.
- And Pliny them took them in a flash to Baldur’s Gate.
They arrived in the teleportation portal at the House of Gond in Baldur’s gate, to the surprise and consternation of the priests.
They found themselves in the House of Gond, surrounded by some of acolytes, who were like “Who are you? What are you doing here? This is most unusual…”
- And scared them a little bit with what else might be coming through.
They ultimately made their way to the Protective Jellyfish Tavern in Baldur’s Gate. And got a good night’s sleep.
The next day, they returned to the House of Gond
- The party returned to identify
- the long sword from Dralmorrer Borngray
- the black sword from Rezmir
- the mask from Rezmir
- the book (which they forgot to actually get identified)
- the dagger - that Fang stole from the temple in the castle.
- 2 Spell Scrolls (of Mage Armor)
- Asbara Jos’ Spell Book (just a spell book)
- a breastplate from Rezmir
- Shiny claws from Rezmir - Insignia of Claws
- The party returned to identify
The Priests of Gond took the longsword, and then pulled it into a back room casting spells of identification.
After some time, they returned with looks of reverence on their faces.
- “This is an Elven Moonblade. Where did you find this?”
- Aegar: “I am not sure if you would believe me if I told you.”
- The Priests of Gond gave a summary of it’s features:
- If you can attune to it, it will be a +2 weapon.
- It will never get dirty.
- This Moonblade has some darkness in it… it will revel in the fights it is involved with. So be careful with it.
- Pliny knew that Moonblades were the House weapons of Elven Nobles. They’re rare and powerful and storied.
- And to be to be attuned to it requires a special ritual.
- The blade chooses the elf as much as the elf chooses the blade.
- Pliny didn’t know if it was restricted to elves, but Pliny had not heard of anyone not elven having one.
The Priests of Gond appraised the obsidian black dragon statue at 4,800 gp.
- Pliny pulled Aegar aside and asked him if he wanted to do something with the money for Zoyana or what they should do given that it was from Rezmir
- Aegar: “I believe we should ask her.”
When they returned with the sword and mask, their response was different: they looked scared.
- “These are powerful.”
- “This is an incredibly powerful item, this great sword. It’s name is Hazirawn. Whoever wields it will be a great warrior. But it requires it requires strength to wield.”
They then pulled forward the Black Dragon Mask: “This is a powerful item as well.”
- “If you wear this you’ll have resistance to acid damage.”
- “You would be able to take on the strength of a dragon such that if you weren’t wearing Armor you could add your charisma bonus to your Armor class.”
- They looked at Aegar: “Your lightning breath. If you were to wear this, you’d have a recharge of six.”
- “The wearer gains an additional 60 feet of dark vision.”
- “And once a day, they can gain blind sight out to a range a 30 feet for 5 minutes.”
- “Anyone who puts this on can understand draconic”
- “They have advantage john charisma checks against black dragons.”
- “The wearer gets one legendary resistance once per day.”
- “Finally, The wearer can breathe underwater.”
Aegar looked at the mask, and asked “Is it evil?”
- The priests: “It’s a tool. It is a tool used by evil people, but it is not itself evil. It is incredibly dangerous.” and they pointed to Aegar’s longsword. “that is dangerous too.”
Aegar: “My friends, it has been quite a week for us.”
Pliny: “We’re just glad we have it instead of who did. It’s also going to be good for a friend to be able to hold his head underwater for extended periods of time.”
- Good natured reminders of Aegar’s time underwater ensued.
Pliny took the Moonblade (which was +0 until he attuned to it.)
The Looting Luters finished the session with a plan to reach out to or teleport to see Leosin.
Aegar
- has a white dragon to obtain, and
- has some blue dragonborn that he’d seen along the way, that might someday be worth checking out.
Pliny
- has a blade he needs to attune to, and
- he hasn’t seen grandpa pan in a while.
Zoyana has three mother fuckers to kill.
For now, the Looting Luters left the House of Gond happy, rested, and without the weight of the world bearing down on them.
