Session 63 - Castle Naerytar (recap)

In this session, our party made their final plans, infiltrated the castle, ignited some bullywugs, and raced up stairs to engage Zoyana’s goal: Rezmir…

Planning

  • Aegar questioned Snapjaw on how many troops he had: “Ideally, as we are attacking a fortified position, we need three times the number that they have.”
    • Snapjaw: “Three three times the bullywugs? Oh, we are stronger than them.”
    • Aegar: “Do you have as many troops as they do?”
    • Snapjaw: “Oh, oh give give or take a bullywug, sure. I mean, the little tadpoles you don’t have to worry about so much so… there’s 50 or 60 of them maybe.”
  • Aegar: “Ok, how deep is the moat?”
    • Snapjaw: “I don’t know, 10 feet deep most of it. Five feet some. You can walk across some. It just kind of depends. You can touch the wall some places, if you want it.”
    • Aegar: “Do you feel like you and a small force could swim in a moat unseen?”
    • Snapjaw: “Oh, we could we could do that, or we could likem we could walk in the front door…”
  • The conversation continued that way, with Aegar leading the discussion of defenses and attack plan and Snapjaw providing… answers.
  • Aegar suggested they take a short rest, and send Spapjaw to spread the word to prepare for the signal.
    • Aegar: “Meanwhile, maybe we can Scry on them to see whether she is here, or where she is, and the more information we have the better decisions that we can make.”
    • Aegar: “Maybe he can find her if we do not want to Scry, and he can tell us exactly where she is.”
    • Aegar: “Is there any way that we can keep her here? Any lie that he can tell her, or maybe truth?, that he could tell her that keeps her here?”
  • Aegar, to himself: “What does she want?”
  • Aegar to Snapjaw: “Does the dragon ever come and visit Rezmir?”
    • Snapjaw: “The dragon?”
    • Aegar: “Yeah.”
    • Snapjaw: “No, no, the dragon doesn’t serve Rezmir. Well, I guess the dragon kinda serves Rezmir. But Rezmir goes to the dragon. Everybody goes to the dragon. It’s the dragon’s place.”
    • Snapjaw: “The bullywugs think this is their places, but this is our place.”
    • Aegar: “This is your place. And we are going to make sure that it remains your place.”
    • Snapjaw: “Oh that’s cool yeah that sounds like a good plan.”
  • Aegar: “Zoyana, what do you want to do?”
    • Zoyana: “Go in of course. I want to kill Rezmir is what I want to do.”
    • Aegar: “I know that we’re close, I know that you can taste it. I can tell you from experience that it is always better to fight a battle on your terms when you are at full strength. Even if it means we have to wait to find Rezmir again. We found her once, we can do it again. So even if we lose her now there are things that we must accomplish here. I swear to you, she will die by your hand”
    • Zoyana: “Fine.”
    • Zoyana: “And we should rest. There’s no point in Scrying right now. I should find her in the morning.”
    • Aegar: “I see what you’re saying.”
  • Pliny: “You want to take the last shift then? And Scry on her while we rest?”
    • Zoyana: “The morning, while the rest yeah.”
    • Pliny: “Sounds good then. Then I’m gonna go rest.” Then he laid down and immediately rested.
