Session 45B - The Murkwater Maniac - Places (recap)

In this session, our party was exposed to one of the Murkwater Maniac’s dirty tricks, and interrupted the summoning ritual again…

• As the last of the quasits died, Zoyana grabbed the boy and ran for the exits.
• As soon has her foot hit the floor, everyone heard magically-enhanced clapping, followed by the voice of the Murkwater Maniac:
  • “Yes! Marvelous! Marvelous! A divine performance! You’re my best cast in years!”
  • “The passion, the drama wrapped in a sublime blanketed despair.”
  • “Let’s do it again for real. The Dragon Queen is coming!”
• The Murkwater Maniac clapped twice again, “Places!”… and the scene returned exactly like it was when the party first entered the room.
• The party proceeded to re-run the attempt to save the boy. This time, with the boy and the stage enveloped in a magical green mist that sucked the life and stamina out of anyone inside.
• The boy ended up as a Giant Ape for the duration.
• Pliny climbed the wall and found the Maniac in a box above.
• When Zoyana tried to Thorn Whip the Maniac down to the orchestra seating, he instead disappeared and reappeared behind her.
  • His intricate silver dagger flashed and slashed out at her, but in the commotion (and with a Giant Ape stalking him), he missed.
• And the session ended with the Murkwater Maniac finally exposed…
