In this session, our party gathered some reinforcements, eliminated some, watched a child be sacraficed, and took their revenge…

Intro

• The session started with Pliny mustachepicking the exit gate from the tunnel open and the party looked out.
• As she looked out, Zoyana felt her necklace grow warm, and she noticed a small red faerie dragon out the corner of her eye. Then it disappeared.
• Then the party spied a group of raiders searching along the bank of the river moving towards them.
• Rather than engage immediately, they quietly re-locked the gate and returned to the keep, gathered 4 guards, and returned with the reinforcements.

Fewer raiders

• Sneaking their way to the gate, Aegar used the key to open it and spy out. To the right of the tunnel, that same band of raiders was approaching, unaware of the party’s presence.
• The party took advantage of the raider’s surprise, including:
  • Pliny shattered the shit out of the enemies, immediately eliminating 3 kobolds and rocking the two human guards. And later killed a kobold via riverdance.
  • The faerie dragon dazed one of the humans with it’s breath weapon, then disappeared again.
  • Zoyana whiffed.
  • The guards from the keep held their own.
  • Aegar sent a kobold flying with his warhammer, then laughed in the face of kobold daggers, and then popped the last kobold with the power of his radiant gauntlets.

Fang

• Fang the faerie dragon introduced himself to Zoyana and started energetically flittering about. He thought himself brave and adventurous, but was clearly terrified of the party.
• As Aegar and Pliny started planning, Zoyana continued chatting with Fang:
  • Fang volunteered to help the party. He didn’t know how to polymorph, but was eager to learn.
• Aegar posted up two of the guards at the tunnel entrance, and sent the other two back to the keep to alert Governor Nighthill and ask that 3 blasts of the horn be sounded when the dragon attacked.
• The party heard solmen singing and sobbing coming from downriver but not too far away.

The singing and the sobbing

• The party investigated downstream and heard the hymnal singing and the crying get louder.
• As they got closer, they heard the scream of a woman, and saw across the river three black-scaled kobolds carry a small humanoid close to the water.
  
• Time Seemed to slow
  • The kobolds strung the child out, and the one in the middle took a giant bite out of the girl’s belly as a woman next to her screamed and three blue-scaled kobolds, two humans in black armor, and three other prisoners looked on.
  • The kobolds threw the dying child up and into the water.
  • Zoyana turned the biting kobold to ash with Moonbeam.
  • Aegar lept across the river, pulled his crossbow, and put a bolt into one of the humans.
  • Pliny, as usual, failed to nab a bad guy in a Crown of Madness.
  • Fang the faerie dragon got close, blew his breath on one of the human guards (no effect), and disappeared again.
  • The Moonbeam turned the other two blue-scaled kobolds to ash.
  • Zoyana moved her Moonbeam to cover the three other kobolds.
  • One of the humans grabbed a child captive, held a blade to her throat, and told the party “Come any closer, and she dies…”
  • Aegar cast Command, to no effect, and told the human, “If you harm that girl, your life will end tonight by my hand.”
  • Pliny, incensed by the whole ordeal, aimed at the man holding the little girl, fired his crossbow, and… shot the bushes.
  • One of the kobolds wass burned by the Moonbeam, then grabbed one of the captives and held a blade to her throat.
  • The other human grabbed a child and told the party to “Drop your weapons”.
  • Two kobolds turned to ash via the Moonbeam.
  • Zoyana moved her Moonbeam to cover the second human.
  • The first human slashed the throat of the held child, and grabbed another kid, holding his blade to the new child’s throat.
  • Aegar dropped his shield and crossbow and rushed the human, but in his haste swung wide, then cast Sanctuary on the kid held by the kobold.
  • Pliny reached out with his Mage Hand and flung the scimitar out of the hand of the second human, and then homer-simpson’d himself into a tree and was now hidden.
  • The kobold struggled but failed to the Sanctuary spell, and failed to stab the child.
  • The second human fell to his knees, looked to the sky inside the Moonbeam, and turned to ash.
  • Zoyana moved her Moonbeam to cover the first human.
  • The Moonbeam singed the human, but only a little, before he grabbed the kid around the neck and started to run, dragging the kid with him.
  • Aegar, paladin of peace, brought his warhammer to bare, flattening the human’s head in radiant violence.
  • Aegar then danced around the Moonbeam, dropped his warhammer, and tore the head and body of the remaining kobold apart with his bare hands, dispatching the last of the enemies.

Winding down

• As Aegar wound down his rage, Pliny raided the raiders for weapons and coin, gathering some daggers and 8gp from the various enemies.
• Zoyana welcomed Fang onto her shoulder, and the psuedo-dragon snuggled around the back of her neck, resting his head on her other shoulder.
• The party gathered the body of one of the dead children (the other having floated downriver) and the remaining living captives, and headed back to the tunnel and the keep.
