Session 18 Trees & Frogs (recap)

In this session, our party helped the faerie dragons, wrestled some frogs, and finally met Leosin…

• The party secured the bandit prisoners and searched them, recovering the 60gp down payment they received to capture the faerie dragons.
• Pliny was assaulted again by muffins and then fell victim to a faerie dragon prank and fell face-first into a cream pie. The party enjoyed the thanks and approbation of the various faerie dragons.
• Zoyana and Aegar followed an old purple faerie dragon (Earth) to a large oak tree, where Earth polymorphed her into a faerie dragon and guided her into a hideaway in the tree. There she was shown 3 clutches of 3 eggs, one of which was broken.
  • Zoyana offered to heal the egg, and Earth carried the egg out of the tree.
  • Zoyana cast Cure Wounds and healed the egg…
  • …and also started a reaction that healed the tree. With the tinkle of falling acorns and the sway of branches, the oak stepped out of the ground and the face in the tree began to smile.
  • The faerie dragons rewarded the party with a ruby worth 100gp and 100gp worth of coins. Aegar ensured that the ruby went to Zoyana directly.
  • As the newly-born treant began to turn toward the forest, he looked to Zoyana, thanked her, and commented “You… have a hole… in your mind…” and then walked into the brush.
  • The faerie dragons left with the treant, with one small red faerie dragon being last to leave, and looking like he wanted to say something to the party before turning and darting away.
• The travel back toward Greenest was mostly uneventful, until the party reached a point where the path was bordered on both sides by ponds. A couple of sneaky, but giant, toads made meals out of two of the subdued bandits before the party new what happened. A fight ensued where
  • Pliny got to Thunderwave a toad 4 times his size, shoot a crossbow bolt through the eye of a giant frog, _Mage Hand_ed a dagger to a bandit, stab another frog through the small opening between two friends, and then stole his dagger back without notice.
    
  • Aegar was the tastiest target on the battlefield, and may have been bitten by every amphibian in the vicinity. He did take solace in turning at least one to paste, and discovered that lightening can do damage in a sphere rather than a line when in water.
  • Zoyana learned the value of her fiery ball, and then joined the fray as one of the Giant Toads, turning the tide of a very dangerous battle.
    
  • One of the giant frogs downed a third bandit.
  • With a Zoyfrogar centipede, the party ended the fight, and vowed to never speak of the event again.
  • Aegar checked on the last downed bandit, and finding him clinging to life, Laid on Hands to bring him back to consciousness (barely, with 1HP)
• Upon return to Greenest Keep, the party were greeted by Sgt Markguth, escorted inside by Castellan Escobert the Red, and then hosted inside by Governor Nighthill.
  • During the meal, they got to know Father Corlianus Falconmoon, the elderly male Human priest and Head of the Temple of Chauntea in town. They learned of the founding artefact of the temple: Chauntea’s Amulet of Health and of something below the temple that had kept the crypt doors closed and the clergy scared.
• Near the end of the session, a guard whispered in Governor Nighthill’s ear. He excused himself, and then returned with a new guest on his heels: Leosin Erlanthar…
