In this session, our party split and went to go find what was happening with the fucking faeries…
- The party recovered from their bonding with drinks at The Bronze Goblet and then rest at The Cat & Squirrel
- The next morning, they got directions to Nesim Waladra and The Broken Thorn where he and Leosin were supposedly staying from Eled the Innkeeper at The Cat & Squirrel Inn
- Eled also shared info, after a bit of grilling, about the fey creatures north of the town: they like treats, they have an arrangement with the town to bolster the crops in exchange for treats, the crops had been looking a bit forlorn in the past couple weeks (according to the local farmers), and the fey had not been seen in a little while (also according to the local farmers). Getting annoyed at the grilling, he pointed the party to the Keep for any further digging.
- Aegar visited Nesim Waladra at The Broken Thorn and passed along confirmation that the bones of Xandria in Phlan were, in fact, draconic, and that they were still in the sarcophagus.
- Nesim shared the tale of he and his master Leosin searching for information on the Cult of the Dragon in Candlekeep. Among other things:
- Writings from Candlekeep indicated that Xandria was actually a dragon in disguise, hence the message to Brother Keefe in Phlan.
- They also discovered a rumor that some black dragon eggs were for sale here in Greenest. Because of this rumor, Leosin brought Nesim here. Leosin found another rumor here and disappeared (as he is wont to do).
- Nesim has started to get worried, but still expects his master Leosin to return in the next couple days.
- Aegar shared his story of confirming the draconic nature of Xandria in Phlan.
- Nesim was sure that Leosin would want to speak with them, and comitted to coming to find the party at The Cat & Squirrel upon Leosin’s return.
- Nesim shared the tale of he and his master Leosin searching for information on the Cult of the Dragon in Candlekeep. Among other things:
- Zoyana and Pliny ventured to the keep to get more info on the fey mystery. After a quick recognition by Sgt Markguth and a hello to Escobert the Red, the pair were welcomed by Governor Nighthill.
- Governor Nighthill knew little of the problem the farmers were having with the fey, except that the farmers had reported some poor performance of the crops lately and that the fey hadn’t been seen.
- He did know the location of a nice bakery (Minerva’s Bakery & Sweets) and the location of the forest grove a couple hours north that the local fey call home.
- In an uncanny lack of capitalist tendencies, Zoyana offered to investigate the missing fey for the good of the adventure.
- Pliny negotiated a nice feast upon their return and the borrowing of horses and a wagon.
- On their way to forest grove that the local fey call home, the party stopped at Minerva’s Bakery & Sweets to pick up some pasteries to give to the faerie dragons they hoped to find, and stopped at a few farms that confirmed what little they already knew about the problem.
- Using some poor stealth, some intimidation/persuasion, and a couple of charm spells, the party subdued a human guard and freed a faerie dragon from a cage.
- The guard shared that the group had been trying to capture the really irritating little flappy lizards because they’d been hired to collect unusual and exciting creatures for a weird collector. They drop them off to a trader who lives in a run-down shop a fair way south of the town, near an abandoned village. They leave the cages behind a store and their payment appears in a magic chest nearby. The animals are gone by morning.
- The party heard some gruff cursing and shouting coming from the forest and someone announce: “We’ve got enough- they only wanted a couple of different colours anyway…”, and then tried to sneak up on the group of bandits who were clearly trying to kidnap a number of faerie dragons.
- The “battle” was short and decidely one-sided:
- Aegar let a couple dogs chomp on his armor, Pliny shattered a couple bandits (and nearly killed a faerie dragon), and Zoyana turned into a bear.
- The free faerie dragon Polymorphed the injured faerie dragon into a grizzly, which immediately began to chomp on the nearest bandit.
- A few short seconds later, Aegar subdued the leader with a bola, the bandits surrendered, the faerie dragons all turned invisible, and the party were beginning to decide what to do with their bound captives. One of the invisible faerie dragons pelted Pliny with some muffins.
- The session closed before the captives were all loaded into carts and final goodbyes were made to the freed faerie dragons.
